With all of these great sales going on {check out some items I’m excited for in the Nordstrom sale here!}, it’s definitely time for some shopping. Sometimes, it can be hard to know what to buy, especially when you’re shopping online! There are sooo many cute pieces out there, how do you know what to choose?! Well, over the years I’ve realized there are a couple things that are really important to look for when buying clothes, and it seriously helps with narrowing stuff down while shopping! So keep reading to see what I look for when buying clothing.

What I Look For When Buying Clothing
I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes it can be seriously hard for me to know what to buy, especially when shopping online. It can also be hard to differentiate between what I need and what I want – sometimes I feel like I end up buying so much of the same style. So I’ve come up with a checklist of things to look for when buying clothing: quality, versatility, timelessness, and, to be honest, product reviews, lol! A lot of websites like Nordstrom, J. Crew, and more, have really great product reviews that are super helpful when shopping online. Whenever I can, I try to buy things that I know are good quality and will last me a long time. Jeans are a great example, I think it’s better to splurge on good quality jeans. I love this class dark denim pair and also this black pair, both of which would be so versatile.
Which brings me to my next criteria, versatility. If there’s a piece I know I’m going to be able to wear with multiple outfits, I’m much more likely to buy it. A classic pair of boots are something that I think are so versatile and a closet necessity. Black heeled booties or brown suede boots are pieces that you can literally wear with SO many outfits and during any season, a dress during the spring, or jeans and a coat during winter.
I also look for pieces that have that timeless factor, like trench coats, blazers, and black tote bags. These pieces never go out of style and always look so chic and put together. With these timeless pieces, you can also mix in current trends without going overboard – the timeless pieces will make it a perfect balance!
With these four things in mind, shopping for clothing can be less of a stress and more of a success – you’ll have piece you know you’ll love, that will last a long time, and will get a lot of use!
