Setting up for Happy Hour with a Secret Tip

setting up for an outdoor happy hour in san diego and sharing a tip for buying groceries and making your life easier- M Loves M @marmar

Our time in San Diego is coming quickly to a close and I know I will miss the sunny beach days followed by the brisk evenings. It’s been so nice to have this chance to recharge and soak up lots of family and friend time. Our trips these days feel a bit different with children but Matthew and I have been finding special ways to connect as we used to on our solo couple vacations. A happy little change has been that we’ve been able to stay on Boise time and get the little ones down to bed earlier than usual. With shorter naps at the beach, this has allowed Matthew and I to have our own evening happy hours just the two of us on our patio. It feels special in its own way and even though the children aren’t more than 50 feet away, we feel like it’s just us. Our favorite membership has been such a help to us this trip as well because we’ve been able to get whatever we need when we need it. For planning this backyard happy hour I was able to get free same-day delivery* on fresh groceries for our Caprese salad, plus a loaf of bread and other goodies! (*$35 minimum. Restrictions apply)

Walmart+ is such an amazing membership and with free same-day delivery it really comes in handy! Our beach apartment has very little parking so going out during the evening hours is practically impossible. While take-out is great, we’ve been trying to still cook a bunch so having access to fresh groceries has been amazing. I didn’t realize how helpful this membership would be when we got it, but it’s been more than worth it, especially on this trip.

It’s incredibly easy and convenient to order too. I can use my Walmart+ account from the Walmart app to order groceries in just 10 minutes. Everything arrives fresh and knowing this frees me up to do other things is the best feeling! There are also no markups on items, so you’re getting the same prices as in-store, without any hidden fees.

With fall around the corner I know we have a lot going on, so take a peek at the membership to see how it can help bring value to your day/week. If you can cut out those grocery runs to spend more time with family and friends, I think it’s so worth it! How often have you had a situation where you’ve unexpectedly run out of a certain grocery item (like milk/butter!) and don’t want to run out to get it? Or you are scrambling to put together a last-minute dinner party? Walmart+ has made our lives much easier, all while saving time (and money!) in the process.

Essentials for a Weekend at the Lake

essentials for a weekend at the lake - M Loves M @marmar

We’ve been so thrilled to have family visiting from out of town. Not only do we get to spend precious family time together, but we also get to show them around our new state, and find some new places for all of us to explore. We’re heading up to Donnelly, Idaho for a weekend getaway and today I’m sharing some of the essentials for a weekend at the lake. It’s been much harder to get out of the house with little ones, not to mention we’ve been having a 100-degree heatwave, so I’ve been relying on delivery/curbside pickup everything. I’ve shared with you all about our favorite membership service in the past and today I’m going to tell you just how helpful it was when it came to picking up some last-minute essentials!

We’ve become HUGE fans of Walmart+ and that’s putting it lightly. They offer free delivery from your store, member prices on fuel, a very handy mobile scan & go feature, Walmart+ free shipping, no order minimum, along with Rx for less. They have monthly memberships, but personally the annual has been the way to go for us. It’s one of those services we’ve really benefitted from and have found to be incredibly worth it. When getting ready for our trip, there was so much to do that I just had to rely on a Walmart+ order. Here are some of the last minute essentials for a weekend at the lake:

LAST MINUTE ESSENTIALS FOR A WEEKEND AT THE LAKE

Paper Towels– With 7 kids in one house, this is a MUST! These are always are go-to pick.

Toilet Paper– Last year Matthew stayed in a vacation rental with NO toilet paper! Can you imagine?! Now, this is something that we ALWAYS bring with us!

Paper Plates- Sometimes it’s just easier to use paper plates. With 15 people in one house, we would be doing a lot of dishes!! We probably won’t use all of these on our trip, but I bet they’ll last us through summer!

Sandwich Bags– Want to hear something funny? Augustine and Corinna won’t eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at home, but if we’re on the road, they LOVE them! I got some sandwich bags for us to pack easy lunches for our days at the beach.

Go-To Lotion for Dry Skin – We are located at a bit of an attitude now which takes us, and our skin, some time to get used to. I usually always have this lotion at our house because of how well it moisturizes our skin. I think it’s the addition of oatmeal, don’t you think? Either way, I’m bringing this for my sister-in-laws to use too!

Citronella Candle– Those mosquitos are out to get me, so I’m taking matters into my own hands! This candle will be so pretty on our outdoor table, but it will help protect us from any bites which makes me love it even more!

Bug Spray– And when absolutely necessary, I’ll use this bug spray. It’s DEET-free and made with some good ingredients to ward off those mean little bugs who just love my skin.

Swimsuit– This black swimsuit is almost too good! Ribbed style with the prettiest neckline. I love that it would look so cute as a top with a pair of shorts too. Love an item that can multitask!

Baby Sunscreen– Always looking to protect Augustine and Corinna’s skin, especially with our super harsh sun. I’ve gotten this sunscreen before and thought it worked great. I love that this set included a baby-friendly insect repellent too! I’ll have to report back on my thoughts between the two.

Floatie– One of the things we are most looking forward to is going out on a boat! We’re bringing some tubes and floaties so that we can maximize our fun out on the water!

Ready for Guests

neutral bedroom decor - M Loves M @marmar

We (or should I say I) have been having the best time decorating our new house and making it feel more like a home! While it’s been hard to move away from family, we are so looking forward to lots of summer visitors! Matthew’s sister and her family are coming to stay with us for a few weeks so it felt like the perfect time to refresh our guest bedroom. We got some new washed linen bedding that I’m now wanting to get for our bedroom {seriously highly recommend!}. They’re made from a linen blend and it’s just super soft and luxurious feeling! I feel like it’s better than hotel sheets, which is usually my high standard! Target has become my go-to shopping spot. I mean it always is, but their Home selection just can’t be beat. You know when you go in for one thing, and end up with five? That’s me! But luckily everything I ever get is always the perfect fit and it’s something I’m so happy I got. They have a way of curating the best little collections. Keep reading to see how we updated our guest bedroom!
