wedding wednesday: a night off

February 16, 2011
So this isn’t really a post about wedding stuff but one more about the importance of taking breaks during the stressful planning process. Matthew and I have really needed those nights where we’re not talking about cake, djs, or those DIY projects. Wedding words have to be off limits. When Matthew suggested going to a basketball game I was all for it. Well, kinda of. It was a Clipper game, which is the other LA basketball team. Thought the Lakers ruled LA? Well, they do, but they’re not the only team who call the Staples Center home. It was fun to wear the team colors {red and blue I learned} and be around tons of excited fans but as soon as I got there I was kind of over it. Caramel corn, best snack ever, was probably the highlight for me. It took me a full two quarters before I thought to see who the Clippers were playing, and another quarter to even pay attention to who was winning. While basketball may not be my thing, I really enjoyed having a night off to just have fun with Matthew.
woohoo sports! Luckily Matthew isn’t a big sports guy or else I might be in trouble.
No just kidding. I’m sure I’d learn to love it!

wedding wednesday: first bridal shower

February 10, 2011
Over the weekend my mom and I went up to the Bay Area because my wonderful family threw me a bridal shower! {Can you believe it’s that time already?!} It was such a beautiful day and it was so nice seeing my aunts, cousins, and little cousins! The shower was held at Bocanova in Jack London Square and the food was absolutely amazing. I’m actually still thinking about it days later! There were jicama wedges with chile and lime juice, tortilla chips with tomatillo salsa, dungeness crab deviled eggs {so yum!}, fried shishito peppers with sea salt, veggie enchiladas, fried yucca fritters with shrimp and a cilantro sauce, roasted potatoes, salad with gruyere, roasted cauliflower with feta, aji amarillo and chives and for dessert…get ready for it…warm chocolate croissant bread pudding with mexican chocolate sauce and banana cake with cream cheese ice cream!!! It was so unbelievable good, I’m still drooling!
I loved spending time with my family and catching up. I really miss living closer to them, especially my adorable little cousins. We had such a great time playing tic tac toe and hangman. We figured out two of the hardest words to play..lazy and jazzy. They’re too cute! I’m looking forward to seeing them all in May!

I know this Wedding Wednesday post is more like a
Early Thursday Morning Wedding post
{man, that doesn’t sound nearly as good!}
but my poor little laptop died today,
creating some technical difficulties.
I should be getting a new one this weekend,
any recommendations for a PC laptop?
{I’m a Mac lover but sadly can’t afford one this time around}

wedding wednesday: mother of the bride dresses

February 2, 2011

My mom and I are in the process of looking for her Mother of the Bride dress. I think it’s supposed to compliment the other dresses so I want it to be a light neutral. J. Crew has so many great dresses in lots of different colors, which is perfect. Here are some of the ones I like:

My mom thinks they are a little “too young” for her but I know she’d look gorgeous in any of these!
Do any of you have any recommendations on where to look for Mother of the Bride dresses?
