Make Your Own Acai Bowl this Summer

July 5, 2017

add some flowers to your acai for an aesthetic touch - M Loves M @marmarFor the past few years, acai bowls have been all the rage, especially living in Southern California. I’ve always gone out and bought them when I’ve had a craving but they can be hit or miss- sometimes they’re too overpriced or I’ll wait in a 30-minute line. No one has time for that! I heard they’re super easy to make at home so I decided to give it a try. If you’re interested in how to make your own acai bowl, keep reading!

hawaii photo diary- part 2

You guys, it’s been 11 days since Maui! Not so long but let me tell you the island feels like a distant memory. Matthew and I were just talking about how much we missed it, saying, “we gotta go back!” {LOST reference anyone?} Sigh no matter how long you visit for, it never seems like enough time. Maybe that’s why whenever we’re in Hawaii we talk about moving there. Matthew would go in a heartbeat if he could get a job. He’s such an island boy, as you’ll see in the photo of him trying to knock a coconut out of a tree with a rock. I do love Hawaii, Maui in particular, and while I fantasize about living there I also wonder how my feelings toward the island would change. Would it become just home and no longer paradise? Would I miss the seasons? Would I get jaded by sunshine year round  and a deeper skin color? It sounds nice but I guess for now Hawaii will just have to be our favorite spot to vacation! I’m totally fine with that as long as we can take these trips a little more often.

Our road got blocked by a heard of cattle! We got out of our car to talk to one of the handlers and took some snaps of these cute animals. Matthew had never been so close to cows before so he especially loved it!

There were so many gorgeous waterfalls on the way to Hana!
Hope you enjoyed these photos from our trip! It was so fun and Matthew and I can’t wait to go back. We’re thinking about exploring another island next time, although we do love Maui. If you have another favorite let me know. I hear Kauai is absolutely gorgeous and even more tropical!

august highlights

M Loves M August 2014 Highlights
Happy Sunday everyone! We’re almost a week into September and I still haven’t done my monthly highlights. August went by too quickly and I’m thinking the same will be true with this month. August was fill of a lot of fun things though. Here were some of my highlights from the eighth month of 2014:
  • Spent a relaxing few days in Hume Lake with Matthew’s family. I totally needed a few days away from work and my computer.
  • Celebrated 5 years of blogging! Geez, can you believe it?! Who would have thought!
  • The little G girl had a trip to the vet for her eye infection but is good as new now!
  • Yummy Greek feasting in Long Beach with the fam!
  • Finally made popsicles! Strawberry and Coconut Milk ones that were pretty dang good!
  • Got some new things for our house with help from Shea McGee. I can’t wait to show you all more!!
  • Double date night downtown! Outfit post to come tomorrow!
  • Spent the afternoon at the Long Beach Aquarium. I loved the adorable sea otters!
  • Ate dinner at Walt’s Wharf in Long Beach. My family used to go here when my brother and I were younger so it was fun to go back and also have Matthew try it for the first time.

Is there anything you’re looking forward to for September? It’s an odd month because we’re still one foot into summer but the other is into fall. I think I’m ready to fully embrace the new season but it’s been so dang hot in LA. Hoping it will cool down a bit soon!
