A Day Trip to Catalina

October 28, 2017

a day trip to Catalina - M Loves M @marmar

One of the best kept secrets of Southern California is that we have a little island just an hour away! Catalina Island is one of my favorite spots and it’s hard to believe I only visited for the first time a few years ago. I love that whenever I’m there, I always feel like I’m somewhere remote. The small island town of Avalon has a calming and laid-back character and it’s one of those places you just can’t wait to get back to.

When Vineyard Vines asked me if I wanted to spend the day on Catalina with a few other bloggers, I jumped at the chance. Besides the obvious {island!}, I was also looking forward to going because Vineyard Vines is a brand I’ve watched grow over the past few years. I remember going to a blog conference and seeing their cute samples. Even then, I knew they’d be sold all over the place. Read on to see my day trip to Catalina.

10 Things To Do To Turn Around a Bad Day

How to Fix a Bad Day - M Loves M @marmar

Some days you’re just in a funk and you can’t figure out what’s causing it, or find a way to get out of it. Over the weekend I had one of those days. I was frustrated and annoyed for no good reason. Usually, when I have bad days I can kind of mope around and be on my own. Matthew knows to stay far away from me! But when you have a baby, you desperately want to snap out of your bad mood so that it doesn’t affect them. The last thing I want is for Augustine to pick up on anything negative from me, get stressed out, or feel nervous and afraid. So before I let my bad mood get to me, I went through my list of things that usually cheer me up. Luckily a few of them worked! If any of you are struggling to snap out of a bad mood, hopefully this post will help cheer you up!

Giving Up On Perfectionism

September 7, 2017

I'm loving this Sanctuary dress for Summer and Fall - M Loves M @marmar

Getting a little reflective today and talking about perfectionism. Perfectionism has the worst connotation, doesn’t it? It means to refuse any standard other than perfect. While I don’t try to be perfect, I do try to do a million and one things as well as I can. I think we all set standards for ourselves on what we want to do and what we want to accomplish. And that’s not a bad thing. Having goals and standards helps define us. But, if you’re like me, you can be a little too hard on yourself. It’s true that we can be our own worst critics. Over the past 12 months, I’ve realized there is so much out of my control. {Hm I wonder who taught me that?!}. While I can want to do everything as best as I can, I need to lower the bar just a little bit and be ok with that.
