Mid Summer Beauty Must Haves

mid-summer beauty must-haves M Loves M @marmar
We’re now a little over halfway through summer {say it aint so!}, and since it’s been awhile since I’ve done a beauty post I thought I’d share some of my favorite products I’ve been using these past few months. Summer is usually a time when I like to keep my hair, makeup and skincare more minimal but there are certain products that are just crucial for living. {Dramatic, but true!} These are them:
This moisturizing cream is one of those amazing must-have products. I’ve heard the most incredible things about it so I was so excited to finally check it out. The product is full of vitamin C which is really beneficial for anti-aging. It also protects against UV, pollution and stress, which can be really prevalent during the summer months. The cream is definitely a splurge but a little bit goes a long way! Also the Rose de Mai essence {from one of the world’s rarest roses} smells absolutely incredible!
This perfume is always going to remind me of summer 2015! It’s delicate and crisp and I love the smells of sweet lilac, jasmine, and orange flower. It’s great day or night!
For photo shoot days this powder by Chantecaille is a must-have. It was created specifically for HD cameras to give your skin a flawless, matte finish. No shiny T-zones over here! The powder blends to erase fine lines, erases pores, and leaves skin super soft and smooth. It’s a great product! Light but very effective!
This oil has been so fun to wear this summer. It leaves skin soft and silky, but also adds a little bit of shimmer!
This is such a refreshing and hydrating spray. I mist it over my face whenever I need a little pick-me-up. The smell is so soothing too so I’ll often spray a little bit on when I’m having a stressful day. It’s under $10 and so worth it!
This is such a great liquid foundation for summer. I love that it has an SPF too! It goes on smooth and has a luminous look that brightens up my skin. The foundation has a light feel, too, but you can build it up for more coverage.
I’m a new convert to Living Proof! I love that they have sulfate-free, silicone-free and oil-free hair products. I fell in love with this shampoo originally because I grabbed it for my trip to Seattle. I noticed an immediate difference with my hair feeling softer and cleaner. It also didn’t have the usual frizz that I’ll get in the hot summer months!
Another essential for me when I travel is taking an eyeshadow palette that will work together and on it’s own. This duo features pretty shades of peach and bronze inspired by Monaco that are crease-free and blendable. Sometimes I’ll even dampen the colors for a more intense, liquid-metal effect.
This facial oil is one of my favorites. It goes on lightweight and helps give my skin a little extra boost of hydration. I love that it’s naturally-derived too! There’s coconut, apricot kernel, grape seed extract, sunflower, evening primrose, sesame, jojoba, babassu, and mimosa oils. I apply it in the morning and at night after cleansing my skin.
Oh how I love this liquid lipstick! It’s long-wearing, super vibrant but for having a matte effect it’s also quite moisturizing! Usually matte lipstick can make my lips feel dry and cracked by the end of the day, but not this one! It has lip-conditioning benefits so that lips stay nice and smooth.
Enter the must-have hair spray. Kerastase makes some great products and this one is no exception. This spray gives your hair a messy, beachy look, that will often last for a few days. There are minerals in it so that your hair gets added texture without being weighed down. I never have to worry about it leaving my hair too sticky, crunchy or greasy either!

What are your must-have summer beauty products?

brunch at oddfellows

weekend brunch at Oddfellows Cafe and Bar in Seattle, Washington M Loves M @marmar
My favorite thing about traveling is finding new restaurants! When we were in Seattle last month I had a list a mile long! If you remember, I went to school in Seattle for two years, but I haven’t been back in almost 8 years…yikes! Whenever anyone has mentioned a cafe or restaurant in the city, I’ve added it to a list on my phone. One of those places was Oddfellows Cafe & Bar. Matthew and I decided to go for a weekend brunch while we were there and it was such a fun meal. First of all, the restaurant is super cool. There are brick walls, a huge old American flag hanging on one wall, tons of indoor plants, and well-designed industrial lighting. It just all worked! Then, you have the food! Oh my gosh! Breakfast food is my favorite for a reason! Both the dishes we had were soo delicious and I got to enjoy the yummiest almond milk latte!

If you’re heading to Seattle, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out! Also, if you have any other favorite spots in the city, let me know! I’ll add them to my list because there’s no way I’m letting another 8 years go by before I visit again!

How was your weekend everyone? Ours was so much fun! We celebrated the 4th of July with our neighbors, friends and family at the ultimate block party. Last year we had planned to head up to Cambria, but were convinced by our neighbors to stay for the 4th. We were so glad we did because we realized how hard-core our neighborhood gets into the holiday. There was a taco truck, bounce house, water slide, live band, and the most unbelievable fireworks show…from right across the street! This year, knowing what to expect, we invited family and friends come over {including some of our San Diego family!}. It was such a fun day celebrating our country!
