Sometimes Matthew and I talk about moving. It’s in our life plan to live on a ranch somewhere with lots of land for the dogs and babies to run wild. My one requirement: we must have a true fall. And a fireplace. But most importantly, a true fall season. I love Los Angeles for many reasons, but around this time of year I start to feel so envious that we don’t get that crisp autumn weather and leaves that change colors. Los Angeles is definitely known for its year round spring and summer temperatures, but when it’s 80+ degrees in November {yes you read that right} I’m ready to pack my bags. I’ve been challenging myself to make it feel more seasonal though. Here are 4 ways to make it feel like fall in LA!
4 Ways to Make It Feel like Fall in LA
Step 1
To make it feel more like fall in LA you have to dress the part! Outfits that are easy to layer with are key, so I especially love this lightweight poncho. It’s the ideal piece of fall outerwear because you can easily take it off if it gets too warm. Suede ankle booties are very seasonal but the sling back heel is great for warmer weather.
Step 2
Get out into nature. LA is full of so many great parks and walking trails. I took Augustine out for a little adventure, and underneath the canopy of trees it almost felt like we lived somewhere else. The weather was cooler, there was a little breeze, and the pathways were layered with leaves. Brown leaves, but leaves nonetheless.
Step 3
Drink a seasonal beverage! Fall is the time for apple cider, pumpkin spiced lattes, and even hot chocolate. I bring bobble Insulate with me everywhere and the thing I love most about it is that it keeps my beverages hot for 12 hours, or cold for 24. Right now, my seasonal beverage of choice is an iced chai latte. The taste of nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves gets me in the fall spirit! This bobble also happens to match my fall outfit! I got it in store at Anthropologie when I picked up this plaid poncho. I need to think of some good infused water combinations for fall, though, so I can use my bobble Infuse. Maybe oranges, cranberries and rosemary? Yum!
Step 4
Get domestic! Making pumpkin bread, lighting a fall candle, and getting cozy with blankets on the couch is another great way to embrace the fall season. Sure, you might have to turn the AC on to get the proper chill, but that’s ok! You might not even know the difference!
What are some of your favorite ways to embrace the fall season?
