February Beauty Picks and Thoughts about January Products

Cute Loungeware for Spring

Alright, for all of you who love skincare, this post is for you! Like always, these are honest & real thoughts about products I’ve been using, plus what’s on my makeup counter this month. I really love trying out new beauty and skincare products to incorporate into my daily routine, and during winter I tend to really look for a variety of face oils and moisturizers to help battle this dry winter weather. I shared last month a few of my favorite beauty picks from 2017 and some new products I was planning on trying out in January.  I’ll be sharing my thoughts on those January products below but I also wanted to tell you guys about some new ones that I’m adding to my routine this February!

February Beauty Picks

Arcona Wine Mask  – What I love about this mask is that it’s a moisture-binding mask that helps nourish and replenish dry, dehydrated, depleted skin. Even better, it helps accelerate your skin’s natural defenses with grape seed and wine extracts. It leaves your skin supple, smoothed and balanced which is perfect for combating that cold winter air. Can’t wait to try this one out because my skin has been so incredibly dry since we got back from Lake Arrowhead!

Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Air Dry Creme  – I’m kind of obsessed with all things Kristin Ess, plus that fact that I can easily grab her products on a last minute Target run makes it a bit win. I was really interested with this weightless shine air dry creme because I don’t usually have a lot of time in the mornings to get ready, and I’d much prefer to skip a blowdry and curl day, if I can help it! This product is supposed to help smooth out frizz and add shine and texture on the go.

Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate – A Vitamin C serum should be in every woman’s daily skincare routine. This new one from Kiehls just came out and it’s touted to be the biggest product launch for 2018! Its geared at improving overall skin tone and radiance and it’s supposed to also help with the appearance of lines and wrinkles (yes please!)  due to it being infused with hyaluronic acid.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream – Elemis has been one of those brands that has been recommended to me countless times by friends and bloggers who know their stuff when it comes to skincare. I was intrigued by this day cream because they say it’s a clinically proven formula that reduces the depth of wrinkles and improved skin firmness, tone, and hydration after just 15 days of use. Wow! So I’ll for sure have things to report about next month. While I don’t have a lot of wrinkles, I have noticed a few start to creep in {hello 30!}, and improving my skin’s tone is always of interest since I have some pigmentation from acne marks.

Rodin Geranium & Orange Blossom Face Oil – This one comes in a little on the expensive side but I definitely think it’s worth the splurge.  This face oil by Rodin is a blend of eleven essential extracts that hydrate the skin and help balance out your complexion.  The scent is incredible! It’s a beautiful mix of floral Geranium and citrusy Orange Blossom. It’s good for normal, oily or dry skin and the texture is so smooth it melts right into your skin. I always love trying new face oils so I can’t wait to see what I think about this one at the end of the month!

An Honest January Beauty Recap

Origins Original Skin Matte Moisturizer  –  I was excited to try this moisturizer last month. Besides the pretty packaging, the willowherb is said to help reduce redness and restore brightness and radiance back into your skin. Honestly, I didn’t notice a big change in radiance/glow {maybe because it’s matte?} but I did feel like my skin looked more clear at the end of the month. I will say that this moisturizer is great if you want a matte look, but don’t want your skin to feel dry. I’m going to take a break from using this moisturizer but I’m definitely planning on using it again when summer rolls around and the temperatures are really hot. I feel like a matte moisturizer might be more beneficial during warmer parts of the year. Another thing I liked about it was the smell-  oh geez it smells good!

Skinceuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector  – I’ve always been so impressed with Skinceuticals products so I was really looking forward to putting this product to work on my acne scars. By the middle of the month, I actually stopped using it every day because I didn’t feel like it was as necessary. So that tells you changes were happening! I still have some pigmentation but I do think it’s decreased a lot since using this product!

Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum –  This anti-aging product said it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles in as little as two weeks. Changes like that are sometimes hard to monitor but I did like this serum a lot and I’m going to continue using it! I love how it absorbs into my skin and it feels hydrating like a moisturizer would.

Image Skincare Intense Brightening Exfoliating Powder – The brightening exfoliating powder is a water-activated micro-exfoliating cleansing powder to help get rid of dead skin cells. I was hoping it would be a good substitute for the Dermalogica Microexfoliant that I love, but I have to admit I still like that one a little bit more. This one is a great budget option, but I feel like it didn’t give my skin the same oomph as the one from Dermalogica. If you are interested in that one, I will say it does last a long time. A little goes a long way when you’re using it! One interesting thing I noticed about the Image Skincare Exfoliating Powder was that it smelled like a Coffee Bean Vanilla drink! So random but it’s what I thought of every time I used it.

Tula Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum –  I love a good eye serum and this one is geared at helping refresh tired eyes by de-puffing and renewing the skin under your eyes. The cool metal applicator feels so good when you apply it and I really appreciate how fluid the texture is. This eye cream has caffeine in it too which I keep hearing is an amazing ingredient that helps reduce the puffiness under the eyes. There are also some plant extracts and herbs, along with probiotic strains. I’ve been alternating this eye serum with this Lumene eye cream from Finland which is more affordable, but I’ll be continuing both in February!

Would love to know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you’ve thought! Have you been trying anything new that you think I should know about? I’d love to hear! You all know skincare is kinda my jam!
