6 Fun Fourth of July Activities + Matching Family Outfits

Watch the Neighborhood Parade

As I mentioned in this previous post, our neighborhood throws a big block party with a little parade for the kids every year. We just know that Augustine is going to love seeing all of the kids, bikes, wagons, and decorations. I know a lot of neighborhoods host little parades like this, so make sure to ask around and see if your community hosts something similar!

Make Some Treats

You’ve probably noticed that I love to cook and I’m lucky to have two sweet boys who love to help me in the kitchen. I’m planning on bringing my new favorite pasta salad to our block party potluck. For dessert I want to whip up some of these red and white strawberry coconut milk popsicles. I might even add some blueberries this time to really make them festive!

Fire Up The Grill

Matthew loves a good BBQ and there’s really no better day than the Fourth of July to dust off the grill. Since I’m a vegetarian, he always makes me really yummy grilled veggies so I still get to join in on the fun!

Enjoy a Bonfire

Being so close to the beach gives us a lot of fun options for watching firework shows. But since the beaches near us fill up pretty fast, we might have to go early to stake out a spot. We’re planning to pass the time while we wait with a bonfire. And if a few s’mores happen to find their way over to our fire, I wouldn’t say no to that! And of course, this cute beach towel is a MUST!

Catch a Fireworks Show

This one’s a bit obvious, but we’re optimistic that Augustine will be able to stay up late enough to watch his first fireworks show. Last year, he slept right through it. I’m hoping he loves fireworks as much as I did as a child! There’s something so magical about seeing all the sparkles go up in the sky!

Have Fun with Fashion

Maybe it’s just me, but I love coordinating family outfits! Have I ever mentioned what a good sport my husband is? It just seems so fun for us all to be in patriotic styles for the holiday. And as far as all-American style goes, it doesn’t get more classic than Old Navy! They have a ton of Americana inspired styles to choose from right now. Some are super patriotic with stars and stripes and some are more low-key red, white, or blue and can be worn all summer long. Here are some of my favorites for women, men and baby below!

SHOP OUR OUTFITS

I’m thought this chambray jumpsuit was really fun and comfy and it goes perfectly with this blue and white striped cardigan that I’ve been loving lately

Matthew’s USA sweatshirt and chambray shorts seemed so perfect for the holiday and I can barely stand how cute Augustine is in his all red outfit!

I think all of our outfits go well together without being too much of one color. A little red, white, and blue dispersed seemed more doable than each of us trying to wear all three colors! Plus, I love that these are all items we can wear after the holiday, too. Matthew is super patriotic so he’ll be wearing his USA sweatshirt year-round!

How are you planning on celebrating the Fourth of July? Anyone going to Balboa Island? Please share any fun Fourth of July activities, crafts, or recipe ideas in the comments below! We can’t wait to celebrate!
