My Skinny Margarita Recipe
Hi friends! Who is ready to make a delicious BOMB cocktail? I’m all about a citrus drink and I love a good skinny margarita recipe. I try to keep things on the healthy side where I can though, by opting for less sugar and X-ing mixers that are filled with all sorts of funny ingredients.
I’ve been making this skinny margarita recipe on the regular and I’ve gotten several requests for it on social media, so I had to do a video! This is such a fun and easy cocktail for summer, and you could even make a pitcher of it for a party!
Here’s how you make it!
- Kosher salt or coarsely ground sea salt
- 2 ounces ¼ cup silver tequila
- 2 ounces 4 tablespoons/about 2 small limes fresh lime juice
- 1 ounce 2 tablespoons/about ½ of a medium orange fresh orange juice
- 1-2 teaspoon light agave nectar
- 1 lime wedge or round for garnish
-
Pour a layer of salt onto a small plate (preferably one just slightly larger than the top of your margarita glass). Slice off a small piece of lime and run the wet edge of the slice along half of the rim of your glass. Dip the top of the glass into the salt at a 45-degree angle and roll it from side to side to catch the salt. Add ice cubes to your glass and set it aside.
-
Fill a small cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the tequila, freshly squeezed lime and orange juice and agave nectar. Put on the lid and shake for 30 seconds. Strain the liquid into your glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
Alright I hope you all enjoy my go-to skinny margarita recipe! There’s something so refreshing about the citrus combo and it’s amazing on a hot night! Feel free to customize it too! Want it to be more tart? Add extra lime juice. Or more agave for sweetness. And if you want to be spiiicy you can add a jalapeno. For this recipe, I’d use about ¼ of a jalapeno, seed it and slice it up and then add to a cocktail shaker with the other ingredients. Shake it up and strain into your glass! Yum!
