Pregnancy Style During the 1st and 2nd Trimester

My first trimester pregnancy style was so cute and comfy! - M Loves M @marmar

I have gotten soooo many questions about how to not only dress while pregnant, but how to hide a bump if you’re not ready to share your news. For some pregnancies, it’s easier than others. When I was pregnant with Augustine, I started showing way later than this time around. Seriously, look at the difference between my first pregnancy announcement (I’m barely showing!) and my second one. The second announcement came a month sooner than it did with Augustine because it was getting harder and harder to hide my exciting news, but in these photos it’s so less obvious right? Keep reading for my pregnancy style tips, including how to hide the bump!

Pregnancy Style During the 1st and 2nd Trimester

Loosen Up

This might be a no-brainer, but loose is better! I mean, maybe we should stick to this rule in general?? Right now I am living in soft sweater dresses. Wearing loose dresses and tops is probably the easiest way to hide your bump without being too conspicuous. Empire waists are helpful for hiding a bump too. For any upcoming holiday parties, this dress would totally hide a growing tummy! Plus it’s only $59! I am so torn between the emerald shade and the rust shade. Which would you pick?! Plus you can totally wear these styles when you’re not pregnant. I hate buying maternity clothes knowing they may never get worn again!

Accessorize

This is an old trick used in television shows and movies where an actress is trying to hide a pregnancy. You can use a scarf or a strategically placed handbag to help cover up in a pinch! As a bonus, you’ll be able to wear these accessories even when you’re not pregnant! Any of you lucky ladies who are pregnant now, are in luck! Cold-weather accessories are nice and cozy. I love that this chunky knit scarf comes in so many color options!

Layer

Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy the day after attending a royal wedding where she wore a coat all day, even inside. That’s a bit of a giveaway if you’re a royal and on permanent baby watch, but oversized cardigans and fluffy coats can help you keep your secret under wraps! Pregnant or not, this cozy cardigan is something I’d want to wear all fall and winter long!

Do you have any tried and true tricks for dressing during the first and second trimester? Even though I am halfway through my pregnancy (how did that happen so fast?!) I haven’t really bought maternity clothes yet. Aside from these maternity jeans {tip: size down!}. For the most part, I’m still wearing normal, just maybe a size up, styles that you can find in the non-maternity sections of stores. None of the pieces in this fall outfit were “maternity” specific clothing. Do you have any pregnancy style tips I need to know? I’ll probably have to transition to maternity clothes soon, so I’d love to hear what maternity brands you love in the comments!

ICYMI, I shared a 20-week pregnancy update and included some pregnancy updates from other pregnant bloggers. No woman’s body or pregnancy is the same, so I thought you’d find it helpful to have different perspectives!
