Today we have another installment of my “My Perfect Day” series and I am so excited about this one! Liz Adams of Hello Adams Family {formerly Sequins & Stipes} is sharing her perfect day in Chicago, Illinois, including some really yummy food recommendations. I’ve hung out with Liz several times in New York City and also Dallas, but now I’m dying to visit her in Chicago. I took a brief work trip to Chicago several years back and LOVED it. I actually wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did but I was just so impressed with how beautiful {and clean!} the city was, and all the amazing food options. I’ve always wanted to go back with Matthew to explore the city more and luckily I’ll have Liz’s guide on hand when I do!
My Perfect Day: Chicago, IL with Liz Adams
Hello! I’m Liz Adams from Chicago based lifestyle blog, Hello Adams Family! I’m so excited to introduce M Loves M readers to Chicago today! I was born and raised in the west suburbs, lived in Chicago for 10 years (where I met my husband and had my first baby boy!) and we recently moved back to the suburbs to grow our family and buy our first home. I’m now a mom to two boys – Charlie and Jack – wife to Dave and dog mom to Webster, our chocolate lab.
Despite our chilly winters, Chicago is such a beautiful city! We have an amazing restaurant scene, breathtaking skyline, lovely beaches lining our city, clean parks and outdoors areas and so much to offer to those that are single and those starting families. I always say that it was the best place to live out of college – good Midwestern boys and amazing job opportunities.
I wanted to share my idea of the perfect day in the city so you can bookmark for your next visit! May-December are really dreamy and no one does summertime like Chicago – the city literally comes alive after our long winters. So here is the play by play for my idea of the perfect day in Chicago:
Grab a coffee and donut at one of our favorite spots before taking a walk along the lakefront path! We love Stan’s Donuts + Coffee (the blueberry cake donut is my favorite) in Lincoln Park or La Colombe (the yummiest almond milk latte and croissants!).
Walk the lake path and enjoy the beaches and views of the city! You can literally walk the entire length of the city along the lake! We lived in Lincoln Park so we loved grabbing a morning coffee and walking into the city – about 2 miles – for a park day and lunch.
Chicago has so many amazing parks! You must start at Millennium Park and visit the Bean (for wide angle views of the city) or Maggie Daley Park is a must with kiddos.
Stop for lunch at one of my favorites: Three Arts Club at Restoration Hardware or Le Colonial on Rush Street! Enjoy the shopping on Oak Street while you’re there.
Walk the Magnificient Mile! A great shopping district in the city but also the prettiest views of the Wrigley Building and the Chicago river. If you’re visiting in the summer you MUST do the Chicago Architecture tour!
Stop at Petite Marqeaux for a glass of champagne or a warm chai tea latte and sit on their heated patio! In the courtyard of the Waldorf Astoria and so dreamy!
Our favorite way to unwind from the day is ordering some good old Chicago style pizza – our favorites are Pequods or Ranalli’s! Enjoy on the couch after a loooong day of exploring!
Hope you guys enjoyed my day in Chicago!
xoxo
Wasn’t Liz’s perfect day so dreamy?! I’d love to recreate it myself one day! Are there any locations or bloggers you’d like to see next?? Let me know in the comments!
