Tropical print maxi dresses for summer! - M Loves M

Sigh…I’m having major wanderlust feelings but don’t have anywhere to go! Luckily even though we’re homebound this summer, we just so happen to live very close to the beach! Between dinners overlooking the water in Laguna Beach, boardwalk strolls with the little ones, and trips to visit Matthew’s family in San Diego, we have plenty of beach time! I decided this summer to embrace our staycation vibes and indulge in some travel-worthy tropical print maxi dresses, like this pretty one!

I have to be honest, this style appeals to me for more than just aesthetic reasons. Yes, fun tropical print maxi dresses scream summer. But they also mean comfort! Since we’ve started our family, it’s been hard for me to wear shorter dresses while out with the kids. There is just way too much bending, running, and squatting involved in motherhood lol! So a soft maxi dress is the perfect option for hot summer days where I need to stay cool and functional.

I couldn’t resist this punchy orange style and I feel like I need to plan a summer luau just so I can have an excuse to wear it! I wanted to wear this dress to dinner with Matthew and the kids {no solo date nights just yet!} so I paired it with my new favorites heels. Guys, I don’t wear heels often anymore so when I do, I want them to feel really special. And these heels fit the bill! How cool are the tiny cutout details? Next time I’m going to wear them with a pair of cropped jeans so the detailing is more visible!

If you love palm print {which most of us do!}, you should check out this gorgeous maxi dress from Anthropologie! It’s a bit of a splurge but the most perfect wedding guest dress for any upcoming beach weddings! This blue and coral maxi dress from Old Navy is also really pretty and under $50! Old Navy also has some pretty good prices on sandals right now and I like the idea of wearing a flat slide with this dress when I don’t want to wear heels. I swear, this pair I found there looks so similar to some styles Madewell has right now but is way cheaper. Ummm look! The Madewell pair is $88 and the Old Navy pair is under $20!

Do you shop specifically for vacation? I know it’s so silly, but it does make a trip more fun! I figure since we’re not heading anywhere this summer, I might as well embrace vacation style from home! I’ve been looking at the posts I wrote after our last trip to Hawaii and I’m really hoping we make it back soon!
