Packing usually takes me forever, but for some reason, packing for Hawaii this time around was such a breeze. Of course, I still probably over packed because most of the time I’ll just be in a bathing suit, but a girl needs her options! I thought I’d share a little of my Hawaii Packing List for you in case you’re heading to the islands, or somewhere similarly tropical this season!

HAWAII PACKING LIST

I’d recommend bringing:

2-3 swimsuits {when you’re at the beach every day you definitely need more than one pair!}

2-3 beach cover-ups that also double as day-time dresses

2 maxi dresses that would work for a night out

3 blouses

2 pairs of shorts

1 pair of jeans

1 workout outfit

1 cardigan

1 denim jacket

1 pair of flats

1 pair of sandals

1 pair of wedges

1 pair of running shoes

1 tote

1 clutch

1 hat

2 pairs of sunglasses

Of course there are other things, like pjs, underwear and toiletries, but that’s what I brought in terms of clothing. I might have forgotten something which I’m sure I’m regretting right about now. What else do you think is good to bring to Hawaii for a week vacation? Do you have any packing tips or rules you follow?

You guys, it’s been 11 days since Maui! Not so long but let me tell you the island feels like a distant memory. Matthew and I were just talking about how much we missed it, saying, “we gotta go back!” {LOST reference anyone?} Sigh no matter how long you visit for, it never seems like enough time. Maybe that’s why whenever we’re in Hawaii we talk about moving there. Matthew would go in a heartbeat if he could get a job. He’s such an island boy, as you’ll see in the photo of him trying to knock a coconut out of a tree with a rock. I do love Hawaii, Maui in particular, and while I fantasize about living there I also wonder how my feelings toward the island would change. Would it become just home and no longer paradise? Would I miss the seasons? Would I get jaded by sunshine year round  and a deeper skin color? It sounds nice but I guess for now Hawaii will just have to be our favorite spot to vacation! I’m totally fine with that as long as we can take these trips a little more often.

Our road got blocked by a heard of cattle! We got out of our car to talk to one of the handlers and took some snaps of these cute animals. Matthew had never been so close to cows before so he especially loved it!

Hope you enjoyed these photos from our trip! It was so fun and Matthew and I can’t wait to go back. We’re thinking about exploring another island next time, although we do love Maui. If you have another favorite let me know. I hear Kauai is absolutely gorgeous and even more tropical!

Adjusting to life after Hawaii is so hard! I miss that island of Maui so much. Matthew and I always have such a special time when we go and this time was no exception. We went with my parents which made it more fun too! We rented a house in the hills of Kihea that overlooked the water. Every morning we’d drink our coffee outside, eat breakfast of local eggs from a stand on our street, and fresh fruits from our backyard. Matthew kept saying, “The island will provide,” which was true on many occasions, including when we found a coconut that had just fallen from the tree. This was after repeated efforts by my Dad and Matthew to knock one down. Eventually we got one! I have way too many photos from our trip so I decided to break it down into a few posts to make it a little more manageable. This first post includes photos from the south side of the island, Wailea, Kihea and the local beaches around there. We revisited some favorite spots, like Eskimo Candy {best poke!} and Coconuts Fish Cafe {the fish tacos are a must although I snapped a photo of the fish sando which was delicious too!}. If you get a chance to visit Maui I would highly recommend it!
