How to Mix Current and Classic French Style

February 26, 2020

There are so many fashion trends around the globe to take inspiration from, but of course I am obsessed with French girl style. Who isn’t?? For this look I wanted to combine both modern and current French style, both are soooo different, but I love each style equally!

How to Mix Current and Classic French Style

dress . sweater . necklace . shoes {similar} . bag {Chanel via FashionPhile} . headband {a pack of 6 is only $10!} . cuff . link bracelet . ring . lipstick in sangria slush .

The dress I’m wearing is so flattering and very feminine. I’ve noticed that French style seems to have a large focus on dresses with a button front and puffed shoulders right now and I am here for it! It is also common to see a bold statement piece paired with more subtle accessories and the bright red color of this dress really grabs your attention.

Another trend that is popular right now with those chic French girls on Instagram is a chunky cardigan with large fun buttons. With the dress being the main focus of my look I went with a cream cardigan to keep things neutral, but if you choose a more subtle dress you could always reach for a cardigan with a pop of color such as this one!

With these modern pieces, I wanted to also incorporate more classic French-inspired accessories. I liked the concept of mixing new trends with some timeless fashion pieces such as my Chanel handbag. I was able to style the handbag I had invested in with clothing items that are more affordable and can be worn on a more everyday basis.

My shoes also had that classic French feel to them {although they aren’t Chanel, they look like it at first glance!}. They helped make this look the perfect combination of modern mixed with classic French style. Nude and cream heels are totally classic French style! Here is a pair I found almost exactly like mine! For jewelry, I chose a dainty gold pendant, but as you’ve probably noticed, French girls are loving coin necklaces right now so you could totally choose one of those! By the way, here are a roundup of some affordable coin necklaces for any budget!

Do you love classic French style as much as I do? This post is a bit older, but it shows you how to get a Chanel look on a cheaper budget! Let me know what you think!
