Monthly Recap: February 2020

FAMILY

We have been loving going on walks as a family on the San Clemente Pier on the weekends. It doesn’t hurt that we’ve been having such amazing weather lately! It was in the 80’s most of this week! Matthew and I like to grab coffee on our way so we can enjoy a bit of a pick me up with our fresh air and sun!

Unfortunately we had a really scary moment with Corinna in February. While I was visiting a friend and meeting her sweet new baby, Matthew thought Corinna was choking. He called me to update me and that was the worst phone call of my entire life. I rushed to meet Matthew and the kids in the ER. While it was a horrible day, I am full of gratitude that she is safe and healthy as the situation could have been much worse.

On a happier note, Corinna celebrated her first birthday this month! I can’t believe how quickly this year went and after the choking incident it felt more important than ever to throw a birthday party for our sweet girl. We went with a “Berry 1st Birthday” theme which was the cutest thing ever. I’ll be sharing pics on the blog next week! I wanted to make a cake, but you guys convinced me to buy one and I’m so glad I did because it made my life so much easier lol. I picked up the Chantilly Berry Cake from Whole Foods and it was amazing! Could not recommend it more! BTW, I wrote a letter to Corinna to celebrate her first birthday and shared it here.

FOOD

I made the Oh She Glows Raspberry Almond Thumbprint Cookies and this recipe was so delicious. You’d have no idea how healthy this treat is by tasting it. So chewy and so pretty with the little topping of raspberry jam! They’re vegan and gluten-free btw!

For meal prepping and making the week nights easier, I’ve been making big batches of the Minestrone Soup from Marcela Hazan. It’s a totally classic minestrone soup recipe and it’s so comforting!

The Cookie and Kate Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Crispy Tofu dish was a big hit when my brother came over for dinner one night. Everyone had seconds! Can’t recommend it enough!

STYLE

After much deliberation, I finally bought a custom TDE phone case and strap. I think they are just so cute and it was honestly so fun to design my case, that it doubled as entertainment for me!

I picked up this dress that was under $35 on sale at the time, but now it is only $19.97! Unfortunately, there are only a few sizes left in the burgundy shade I chose. I received so many compliments on this dress and messages that a bunch of readers bought it too! They have three new colors available for spring and I’m tempted to go for the timeless black shade or the fun pink one!

When running errands with the kids at our local mall, I decided to treat myself to a small indulgence that caught my eye! The Farrah Statement Ring from Gorjana is so simple but makes a statement at the same time. I’ve been loving wearing it and can’t believe how good the price is for a piece that is plated with 18k gold!

ENTERTAINMENT

I started listening to Relatable by Allie Beth Stuckey which is a fun but educational podcast that breaks down the latest in culture, news, theology, and politics from a Christian, conservative perspective. Allie is under 30, but incredibly mature and relatable so I’ve loved listening to her! Her podcast comes out 3x a week and each is around 30 minutes so it’s one I can keep up with.

HEALTH

I bought some Sodium Ascorbate (brand is NutriBiotic Immunity!) to help with boosting our immune systems since we are in the midst of cold and flu season. We’ve had a few minor colds hit the family and I would hate for anyone to be sicker than that since colds really throw little kids off balance!

OTHER

This totally random tip, but I’ve started to keep exfoliator in the shower because I’m so much more likely to remember to do it that way. Smooth skin for the win!

WEEKEND SALES

Ann Taylor // Take 40-50% off full-price sweaters and tops!
