Easter is a few weeks away and I’ve been really wanting to do something special for the kids so I’ve been busy planning cute little Easter baskets for them. Last year, things didn’t go as planned (in 2020 fashion) so I’m trying to be a little ahead of things right now. With Easter, we do our best to keep the focus on Jesus while also celebrating the beauty of spring. To keep me from going overboard on an Easter basket, I was able to narrow down to a few key categories so I thought I’d share some favorites from each with you all. I think I’m most excited about the books I picked out because both kids have been loving reading/looking through books lately. It’s been so fun to share some old favorite books with them, as well as discover new ones. I hope this post is helpful for any of you building an Easter basket for your kiddos this year!
THE BASKET + ESSENTIALS
baskets, faux grass, and of course the Easter eggs!
BOOKS TO READ
Love books about the true meaning of Easter, along with ones that celebrate spring and new life!
SMALL TOYS & CRAFTS
Creative toys are my favorite but of course a stuffed animal and toy truck are always well loved!
SOMETHING TO WEAR
There are so many cute spring outfits for little ones! I’m looking forward to ditching the darker winter colors for some pastel hues!
Do you do anything to make Easter special for your family? Would love to hear if you have any favorite traditions!
Hi, friends! It feels like I’ve had a longer than usual absence from the blog. While I have loved sharing here over the past 12 (!) years, I feel like I’m in a very busy season of life with my little ones and my free time {and help!} is much more limited. While I love sharing here, I just don’t think I have the ability to keep it up with the same cadence as before. But, my goal is that when I do post, I’m sharing more intentionally with topics that resonate with you. I have a few more posts coming up, but I thought I’d start off with a little update.
Lately, I’ve Been
watching lots of gardening YouTube videos! Do any of you garden? We took last summer off since we were preparing for our move, but I am so thrilled to be getting back into it this year. I’ve been researching how to start plants from seeds, the best type of raised garden bed, which plants to start now vs later, etc. etc. We’re focusing mainly on a kitchen garden although I do love the idea of adding some flowers in as well. Happy to share more with you all if this is something you’re interested in!
reading My reading time has been a little more limited these days but I’ve been challenging myself to read the whole Bible this year. It sounds a little daunting but I’m going through the plan from The Bible Recap and it’s been so helpful. Each day I open up the Bible App and read the daily plan from The Bible Recap. Then I go to my podcast app and listen to the 10 minute podcast recap. I’ve learned so much and it’s a minimal commitment each day – maybe 15 minutes tops. And obviously the benefit is so huge! The more I read, the more I want to keep reading. It’s amazing how scripture can just pull you in! If there’s one thing I’ve learned from TBR, it’s that He is where the joy is 😉
eating One of my best friends got me this cookbook for Christmas and I’ve been cooking my way through it the last 3 weeks. I have made several beyond delicious meals, like the Dreamy Thai Peanut Sauce Soba Noodle Dish. I’ll have to share the recipe with you all on Stories this week because I’m not seeing it online anywhere. If you remember, her other cookbook is one of my most-cooked through, so this new cookbook has been highly anticipated!
looking for a coffee table. When we moved, we ended up selling our old glass coffee table but I’m thinking a wooden one will be best for our new space. Lulu & Georgia is always my go-to for home items so I’m starting there. We did get a new rug which I’m loving! Olive green is a new color for me to design with but I think it’s so complimentary with our wall color which is a warmer off white.
planning Easter baskets! In an attempt not to procrastinate this year, I’ve been planning some fun Easter surprises for the kids. We don’t do anything too over the top, but I want to make it special, especially since this will be the first time Corinna participates in an Easter egg hunt! I have a few Easter basket posts coming up this week/next.
thinking about summer! I know, I know! Technically it’s still winter (for another week!), and then spring, but THEN summer! I’m longing for warm weather and adventures near water. We’ll see what we end up doing!
using a fabric shaver. Sounds strange right? Well, I’ve had some sweaters that have gotten so pilled I was almost ready to throw them away. After some looking online, I learned that this fabric shaver can make sweaters look brand new without damaging them. Put it to the test, and low and behold, it’s true! My sweaters are freed of little pills and lint balls! Plus, it works on sofa cushions too!! I’m going to be doing this to all my sweaters before storing them for spring and summer. Feels so Martha of me lol!
loving these jeans! I got them early in January and they’ve been my most worn pair. I sized down so they were a little tight at first, but they’ve loosened up perfectly. This style comes in a bunch of different washes so I’m already thinking I’m going to want another pair at some point.
Alright, that’s all for me! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! I have a feeling we’re going to be recovering from the time change still. Late to bed + early to wake is not usually the best combo for my little ones! Hoping things will normalize a bit over the next few days though.
2020 was a big year of life changes for us – selling our house, moving into various rentals, and finally settling into our home. Now that the boxes are finally clearing, I feel like I’m able to sit down and write a little bit behind our move.
