Monday-Friday Hairstyles

Back to school/back to work is right around the
corner, can you believe it? I always love picking up some new clothing pieces
in fall colors, paper products to keep me organized, and some hair and beauty
products for fun, new looks! I’m always looking up beauty inspiration, especially after Fashion Week, and then
going into Sally Beauty to get products to
recreate them. Sometimes I feel like I just wear my hair the same way,
every day, but I love doing things a little differently, especially for fall. It’s fun to have a new look for a new season.  I
thought I’d put together some Monday-Friday hair inspiration for different
hairstyles you can try throughout the week. Bonus: they’re extremely easy so you can still get out the door quickly!
On Sunday nights I like to do a beauty refresh. It’s nice to start
the new week feeling all clean and sparkly so that means showering, doing hair
and face masks, removing chipped nail polish and maybe applying a new color,
unless I’m giving my nails a break.  When it comes to my locks, I always
make sure to wash my hair, apply a hair mask
like the Hair Chemist Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque, dry it with a blowdryer, like
the Ion Whisper Quiet, and go to sleep.
MONDAY

Monday mornings, I spritz my hair with Beyond
the Zone Turn Up the Heat Protection Spray
and then add some curls with a flat
iron.  I love this Ion
Gator Titanium Styling Iron
 because
it heats up really quickly and stays consistent while I style. This is my usual
go-to hair look after I wash and blowdry.
TUESDAY

Tuesdays I pull my hair up into a half ponytail and sometimes I’ll just tie it off or I’ll make a cute little bun. I like to make sure to pull out some pieces of hair around the face so that it’s a little softer and not as harsh.
WEDNESDAY

Ponytails are an easy hairstyle but it’s fun to make them a little
more fun and sporty.  These clear
DCNL Gummi Elastic plastic hair ties
 always
come in handy for a variety of hairstyles, but I loved adding them on my
ponytail. This hairstyle would be great for a workout too!
THURSDAY

Thursday I went a little more romantic. I added some volume to my
hair at the crown with an Ion
Anti-Frizz Rattail Tease Comb
, pulled my hair into a low ponytail,
and then separated some of the hair above the tie at the nape of the neck and
looped the ponytail through a few times to make a low bun. I added a few MetaGrip
Bob pins
and sprayed it with a light TIGI
Pro Look Set Hairspray
.
FRIDAY

Milk braids are a great Friday casual hairstyle! I start with my
hair in low pigtail braids and then cross them over to the opposite side of my
head. Sturdy
MetaGrip Bob pins
 are a must,
and then mist with some hairspray on top and you’re out the door in no time!
I’d definitely recommend going into your local Sally Beauty to
find some of these products to do your own hair looks. Do you have any fun
hairstyles you like doing during the week? It’s nice to mix things up a bit!

Mid Summer Beauty Must Haves

August 6, 2015
mid-summer beauty must-haves M Loves M @marmar
We’re now a little over halfway through summer {say it aint so!}, and since it’s been awhile since I’ve done a beauty post I thought I’d share some of my favorite products I’ve been using these past few months. Summer is usually a time when I like to keep my hair, makeup and skincare more minimal but there are certain products that are just crucial for living. {Dramatic, but true!} These are them:
This moisturizing cream is one of those amazing must-have products. I’ve heard the most incredible things about it so I was so excited to finally check it out. The product is full of vitamin C which is really beneficial for anti-aging. It also protects against UV, pollution and stress, which can be really prevalent during the summer months. The cream is definitely a splurge but a little bit goes a long way! Also the Rose de Mai essence {from one of the world’s rarest roses} smells absolutely incredible!
This perfume is always going to remind me of summer 2015! It’s delicate and crisp and I love the smells of sweet lilac, jasmine, and orange flower. It’s great day or night!
For photo shoot days this powder by Chantecaille is a must-have. It was created specifically for HD cameras to give your skin a flawless, matte finish. No shiny T-zones over here! The powder blends to erase fine lines, erases pores, and leaves skin super soft and smooth. It’s a great product! Light but very effective!
This oil has been so fun to wear this summer. It leaves skin soft and silky, but also adds a little bit of shimmer!
This is such a refreshing and hydrating spray. I mist it over my face whenever I need a little pick-me-up. The smell is so soothing too so I’ll often spray a little bit on when I’m having a stressful day. It’s under $10 and so worth it!
This is such a great liquid foundation for summer. I love that it has an SPF too! It goes on smooth and has a luminous look that brightens up my skin. The foundation has a light feel, too, but you can build it up for more coverage.
I’m a new convert to Living Proof! I love that they have sulfate-free, silicone-free and oil-free hair products. I fell in love with this shampoo originally because I grabbed it for my trip to Seattle. I noticed an immediate difference with my hair feeling softer and cleaner. It also didn’t have the usual frizz that I’ll get in the hot summer months!
Another essential for me when I travel is taking an eyeshadow palette that will work together and on it’s own. This duo features pretty shades of peach and bronze inspired by Monaco that are crease-free and blendable. Sometimes I’ll even dampen the colors for a more intense, liquid-metal effect.
This facial oil is one of my favorites. It goes on lightweight and helps give my skin a little extra boost of hydration. I love that it’s naturally-derived too! There’s coconut, apricot kernel, grape seed extract, sunflower, evening primrose, sesame, jojoba, babassu, and mimosa oils. I apply it in the morning and at night after cleansing my skin.
Oh how I love this liquid lipstick! It’s long-wearing, super vibrant but for having a matte effect it’s also quite moisturizing! Usually matte lipstick can make my lips feel dry and cracked by the end of the day, but not this one! It has lip-conditioning benefits so that lips stay nice and smooth.
Enter the must-have hair spray. Kerastase makes some great products and this one is no exception. This spray gives your hair a messy, beachy look, that will often last for a few days. There are minerals in it so that your hair gets added texture without being weighed down. I never have to worry about it leaving my hair too sticky, crunchy or greasy either!

What are your must-have summer beauty products?
Any ones you’d have to pack in an overnight bag? Share with me below!

summer whites

August 5, 2015
white embroidered blouse with white jeans and yellow heels M Loves M @marmar
Do you ever feel like August is the beginning of the end of summer? I’m sorry..that’s such a bummer to think about! It’s just that August makes me aware of how much little time of summer is left. Growing up, my family and I would spend the first two weeks of August in Lake Tahoe, before returning to LA to prep for the beginning of the new school year. It was always a fun time, especially because we knew we had to savor the last few weeks of summer. That meant fitting in as much beach time, friend time, and reading for fun time as possible!
Now, as an adult, I still try to savor summer however I can. One way is by wearing white jeans. I don’t believe in that silly ‘no white after Labor Day rule,’ but I will say that white denim definitely shines during the summer months. I paired it with this pretty embroidered blouse, and added color with these yellow pumps {get ready to see these a lot!}. A current repeat offender…this pink clutch. I’ve worn and worn it again, but I still love it!

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m so excited because I ordered a rug weeks ago and it’s finally coming this week, after being backordered. We’re working on our front room and I’m so excited to see it come together. Take a peak at some of my home inspiration! Hopefully I’ll be able to share a before & after later this month!
