Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope that no matter your relationship status, you can think of today as a day of love – for friends, for family, for pets, and especially yourself! But, since Matthew and I are celebrating our 9th Valentine’s Day together I thought it would be fun to share 10 things you might not know about us, plus some funny photos from back in the day!

10 Things You Might Not Know about Me and Matthew

1. When we met, Matthew thought I was 24. I was 20! He found out when we went to see M83 and they had to put Xs on my hands.
2. If he could eat any food every single day it would be pizza. Mine would be sushi. One day we’re going to see how far we both make it!
3. We’ve lived in 5 apartments/houses together.
4. We love the idea of having a ranch house somewhere with chickens and horses.
5. Ginger gets jealous when Matthew and I hug. She’ll jump on her hind legs trying to join in so we end up picking her up and having a family hug.
6. Matthew hates cooking but he’s made one of the best pastas I’ve ever had!
7. We always love the idea of watching a movie but get too tired and watch reruns of funny shows like 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother.
8. Matthew is incredibly musical (can play the guitar, the bass, piano, drums, writes songs and sings) and I can’t hold a tune.
9. I got Matthew into country music and now it’s all we listen to in the car. At home, Matthew got me into listening to Hawaiian music. Shout out to Maui Q103.
10. Out of the two of us, Matthew is the clean one. Although I do make the bed every morning.

I started my blog in 2009, just a year after Matthew and I started dating. so there are a ton of funny old photos if you dive back deep enough. And of course, there’s our proposal {his story and mine}, wedding photos, and lots in between. I’ve loved having this blog to document some of our biggest milestones, like buying a house, announcing our pregnancy, and of course Augustine’s arrival. I really love this guy of mine so much. He’s my best friend and soul mate all wrapped up in one, and I appreciate him so much each and every day, not just on Valentine’s Day. God brought him into my life and for that I am so so grateful.

In some ways I wish Matthew and I could go back and do it all over again, so I’m jealous of some of you on the brink of meeting the one. There are seriously so many wonderful things ahead for you! And I know Matthew and I still have a lot to look forward to also. I just think looking through these old photos makes me feel a little nostalgic. Life goes by so dang quickly. I want to stop and enjoy it all! I really can’t wait to go on another trip together, too! Portugal was one of our favorite trips, but you all know how much we cherish our time in Hawaii.
