As you can probably tell, lately I have been leaning in to comfortable fall style! Must be the pregnancy, or maybe it’s the weather. I’ll say both! Lately, I have been living in this cozy sweater, legging, and scarf combo! As much as I love that outfit, it just didn’t feel dressy enough to wear on a date night or a night out with my girlfriends. However, by making a few small tweaks, I feel like I have been able to elevate a comfortable fall outfit into a chic one!
Cozy to Chic: How to Elevate a Comfortable Fall Outfit
Glam Nail + Lip
Really the most comfortable way to dress up an outfit without feeling too fussy is to do a bold lip and nail. I am such a sucker for a red lip so, of course, I love any chance I get to pair it with a matching red nail polish. This is my go-to red nail polish, I’ve been wearing it for years! Sadly, the lipstick I’m wearing was from the now discontinued Dolce & Gabanna lipstick line, but this ILIA lipstick in the shade Tango looks like a pretty good dupe to me.
Rich Colors
When keeping my style casual, I try to stay away from any colors that may look too much like sweats. Heather gray leggings and sweatshirts always look too much like gym wear for me. For fall it’s a no-brainer to embrace rich shades like burgundy, emerald, and navy. Even if the fabric is soft and the cut is loose, a darker jewel-tone inspired shade feels a little more mature. The sweater I’m wearing comes in eight different shades, so it was easy to find one that I felt gave my comfortable fall outfit a little upgrade!
Statement Jewelry
Another easy way to give a casual outfit a boost is with jewelry. Bring on the sparkle! Especially during the holiday season, I feel like there is no shortage of glamorous and sparkly jewelry options to choose from. Julie Vos is my go-to for statement pieces. I especially love their bracelets like the ones I am wearing in these photos. I think BaubleBar is always a great spot to pick up affordable statement styles. I am so tempted by this matching sparkly headband and earring set, wouldn’t that be fun for a New Year’s Eve look?! I went for broke and even added a glittery bag to really amp up this look!
A Little Heel
Of course I love wearing flat booties in the fall, but if I can I try to find styles with small, block heels. I get a little lift and feel more dressed up without having to wear anything uncomfortable. These suede booties are so comfortable, but are also chic thanks to their beautiful cream color and luxurious material. I featured another short heeled bootie in my fall wishlist that I think is just so gorgeous and so glamorous thanks to their tortoise shell heel.
