How We Found the Best Window Treatments for Our Bedroom

My experience working with the Shade Store! - M Loves M @marmar

I was so excited to redo our bedroom after we moved in. We got a bigger bed {I joke with Matthew that we have room for lots of kiddos to snuggle!}, a new rug, and created the perfect little reading nook. After all that was done though I felt like our room lacked this “wow” factor. It all came back to our window treatments. We had these blah old blinds that just dragged the room down. Even with a pretty bed and pillows, the blinds were such an eyesore. And since we have a bay window, they’re really the first thing you see when you walk into the room. So something had to happen. I turned to you guys on social media and of course you had the perfect solution for the best window treatments. I thought I’d share a little bit about the process with you guys in case any of you are currently looking!

How We Found the Best Window Treatments for Our Bedroom

SO many of you recommended The Shade Store and they were so generous to give me a little discount to share about my experience working with them. Let’s just say it was very easy! I went into their Newport Beach showroom with my inspiration board and met Kylagh who is an incredible designer for them. She was able to help narrow down styles and fabrics based on our vision/mood board. I knew I wanted a roman shade but I wasn’t sure which style would be best. There are several options, but we settled on the flat roman shades, which are very sleek and sophisticated. I felt like it would be the most timeless option for us. Now to figure out the material and color!

There were so many different materials and colors and while I was contemplating a wooden roman shade material, like grasscloth, I decided linen would be best. Linen ties in with our upholstered bed and it has a classic but effortless look. I took several color swatches home to look at it in our room. Just like with paint, you need time to really look at the material in its future lighting.

The process of working with The Shade Store couldn’t have been easier. They came out to our house to take the measurements and then once the shades were ordered and delivered, they came back to install them. It was a piece of cake and now we have the best, most beautiful window treatments! You can check out which shades I chose in this post about my bedroom decor!

Since we have the bay window we decided to upgrade to the motorized/rechargeable option and let me tell you it is SO worth it. On a small window, I would say you can just get the continuous loop and do it yourself, but on larger windows it is so handy to just press a button and have them rise up. You only need to charge them once a year too, depending on how often you open and close them. I feel like the motorized option is just more motivation to open the shades, though. Otherwise it would be a daily workout with 3 windows going up and down. We picked the privacy liner, instead of the blackout liner, because I love how the linen filters the light. It still gives plenty of privacy, though. Also, for us, we have another arched window up high so even with the blackout liner we still wouldn’t be getting complete darkness.

If any of you are needing new window treatments I really can’t say enough good things about The Shade Store. They have showrooms all over so it’s worth going in and seeing what your options are. I know you’ll be as impressed as we were. Another thing I love is that the company is family owned, and their products have been made in the US since 1946. There is such history there, and the quality is really incredible! They also do the best collaborations with designers like Aerin, Kate Spade, and DvF. I’m so appreciative that they gave me a discount on these shades and we are so happy with how well they pulled our bedroom decor together.
