A Soothing Bath for Winter
I know I shouldn’t complain…but it’s been such a cold SoCal winter! Combine the cold with a very tired and achy third trimester baby body and I could really use a nice soak in the tub. I love indulging in a nice hot bath in the winters and have found the pretty perfect formula for a soothing bath. Without further ado:
The Fixings
A sweet smelling bubble bath or bath bomb are lovely, but to me they’re just the icing on the cake, not the main course. To create a soothing bath that will solve all of my winter problems, I focus on products that will help ease muscle soreness and soothe dry skin. These pretty pink bath salts {they make for a lovely gift too!} would be my first choice for easing muscle aches and pains, but the Dr. Teal’s epsom salts are a classic for a reason, they just work so darn well, smell good, and are under $5!
While in the bath I like to add a few drops of a relaxing essential oil like lavender essential oil {this one has great reviews and is under $10!}
Relaxation Time
I like to light a nice candle and read a fun book while in the bath. I really love that this book, Whole Beauty by Shiva Rose focuses on how you can create daily wellness rituals and learn how to make more natural beauty products at home. Seems like the perfect bath time read to me!
Post Bath Ritual
After I spend about 30 minutes to an hour soaking in the tub, I want to keep that relaxed glow going for as long as possible. I always keep fluffy towels at the ready to dry off, as well as a comfy robe and slippers to help stay warm. This next step is super important. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Have you ever noticed how dehydrating a bath or even a quick dip in a jacuzzi is? All that hot water feels amazing, but is seriously drying. During my bath, I keep water to drink near me and drink as much as possible. After my bath, I keep up the hydration efforts, but I also make sure my skin is moisturized from head to toe. I like to use a luxurious body oil {love that this one works for your body and hair} but a body lotion {this lotion is the same brand and scent as the affordable epsom salts I linked earlier. How lovely would that be??} would work too. I sometimes like to add a few drops of body oil to my bath to help keep my skin soft and hydrated. {You can see which moisturizing face products I’m currently using here!}
If I used an essential oil in the bath, I love to add some of the same scent to my diffuser after as well. I also think keeping an essential oil roller designed to help you sleep in your bedside table is such a good idea for going straight from a bath to the best night of sleep ever. I know I always sleep so much better after a good bath!

Do you like to take baths or are you strictly a shower girl? I know everyone who loves to take baths has their own routine, so I would love to hear yours! I don’t think my soothing bath routine can get any more luxurious, but I’m willing to try! 😉
