Prepping for the end of the year! - M Loves M @marmar

I’ve always loved the following quote from The Great Gatsby, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” For some reason it really resonates with me! As I was saying on Friday, the cooler weather and back to school vibes feel so refreshing. Time slows down a bit in the fall, life seems less hectic somehow. There are longer nights at home that give plenty of time to reflect and tackle your to-do list! I realized that the year is quickly coming to an end and there are quite a few changes I want to make and projects I want to tackle before the end of the year!

How I’m Preparing For the End of the Year

Beauty

Haircut- I’ve been meaning to get a haircut because my ends have felt so damaged. I went last week and decided to cut 3 inches off. It’s not short by any means, but it still feels like a noticeable change and it was just what I was needing. My hair feels so much healthier and it’s given me a little boost of confidence!

Travel

Colorado- Matthew and I have felt a little landlocked since we haven’t traveled anywhere all year. I’ve never been to Colorado and from what I hear, it’s beautiful during the fall! I can’t wait to explore with Matthew, Augustine, and Corinna. It will be our first trip with both kids though, so I’m a little nervous. I know once we’re there it will be great though! If you have any recommendations for Colorado {we’ll be around Denver/Boulder}, or traveling with 2 kids, please please please let me know!

Minimizing

Poshmark- I lowered a bunch on my Poshmark and everything that wasn’t selling, I donated. It felt SO good to have cleared out a huge box of clothing and shoes from our garage. We’ve been working hard at getting our garage together and I’m so proud of the process we made over the weekend. Now I just need to work on my office upstairs!

Food

Easy recipes in the InstantPot– Now that it feels like fall is in full swing, I’m ready for lots of easy and healthy soups and curries! I’m planning on using my InstantPot to make things even quicker. I love that I can use it as a slow cooker or a pressure cooker. Btw highly recommend the InstantPot for a must-have wedding registry gift!

Staying Organized

Plan earlier- Fall and winter are full of so many events and I want to make sure I have enough time to plan for all of them. When it comes to ordering Halloween costumes, shooting family photos, ordering our cards and presents, I want to give myself enough time so that I’m not stressed. I really hate feeling that last-minute pressure, don’t you? Instead of overnighting Halloween costumes like I did last year, I have it on my list to buy them this week! Are you dressing up??

Health

Tone It Up 31 Day Fall Challenge- I always love doing Tone It Up Challenges, especially the one in fall! It just started last week and it’s been a great excuse to prioritize healthy eating and exercise. I’m trying to get in quick but effective workouts during nap time, and in terms of food, I’ve been trying to eat more clean. Although, to be honest, I am a little nervous about how I’m going to stick with the challenge in Colorado. I’m going to do my best but I also want to enjoy our trip and for me, that means eating yummy food!

Wellness

I feel like we’re finally getting into a routine with both kids so now I really want to try to carve out some time for myself. I feel like the days can feel very long so the evenings are the time of day I can really unwind. I’m planning on reading more {just got this book!}, taking time to journal, and also prioritizing my rest and sleep. I know when I get more sleep I’m a much happier and more patient mama!

Do you have any end of the year plans? What will make you feel satisfied with your year when December 31st rolls around? It’s interesting looking back on my 2019 goals. I’m glad I set realistic expectations for myself haha!
