The best holiday books for toddlers! - M Loves M @marmar

I am so beyond thrilled that Augustine has inherited my love of books. I was an English major and reading has always been a big part of my life. I can’t wait to share my favorite books with Augustine and Corinna as they get older. One holiday tradition I loved was reading special holiday books each year. My mom would bring them out from our hallway closet at the beginning of December and my brother and I would rush to find our favorites. Last Christmas, Matthew and I picked up some classic and new holiday books for Augustine and he was so excited to read them again this year. It’s also been interesting seeing which ones he remembers! Keep reading to see our favorite holiday books for toddlers!

13 Holiday Books for Toddlers We Love

SHOP THE POST

The Animal’s Merry Christmas by Richard Scarry

I can’t resist a Little Golden Book, and this one is a Giant Golden Book! These books are so timeless and sweet, and I love anything by Richard Scarry. Matthew’s mom got this book for Augustine and I think it makes an amazing gift! It’s definitely a book that will be read and cherished for years to come.

Little Blue Truck’s Christmas by Jill McElmurry

Augustine told me this is his favorite Christmas book! Which comes as no surprise since he loves all the Little Blue Truck books. He loves trucks, what can I say! The last page is such a fun surprise though and it made me smile so big to see Augustine’s reaction!

The Night Before Christmas: The Classic Edition by Clement C. Moore

We basically had no choice to pick up this book. It’s a classic for a reason! We’ve read this to him a few times this season, but of course it will be a part of our Christmas Eve traditions.

Dream Snow by Eric Carle

I’ve always loved Eric Carle books, so I’m so happy we picked up this holiday one for Augustine last year. It’s one of our favorites to read together, and of course the illustrations are so beautiful.

Polar Express 30th Anniversary Edition by Chris Van Allsburg

Is there anything more magical than the Polar Express? Augustine loves trains, so it’s no surprise this is one of his favorites to read!

Letters From Father Christmas Paperback by J.R.R. Tolkien

Who knew J.R.R. Tolkien had written a children’s holiday book?? I haven’t ordered this one yet, but am going to because it is just such a cute concept. Every year the author would send his children a letter from Santa telling whimsical tales about the North Pole. How sweet is that? I can’t wait to read this collection of letters to Augustine and eventually Corinna!

Christmas in the Manger by Nola Buck and Felicia Bond

Any books with animals is a win in our house! I chose the board book version because my little ones always love those.

The Nutcracker by E.T.A Hoffman

Alright, this book might be more for me than the kids! It’s one of my all-time favorites and I always love playing the music from the ballet during the holidays. This is such a magical story and I know my creative toddler will love the Nutcracker Realm!

A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig

This book tells the story of young Nikolas {aka Santa Clause himself!} and his journey to the realm of elves where an impossibility is just a possibility you don’t understand yet. Such a great message for little ones!

The Little Reindeer by Nicola Killen

This book is on the newer side but totally deserves a spot on our book shelves. I really appreciate that the book centers on an unlikely friendship forming and encourages compassion and kindness.

Santa and the Goodnight Train by June Sobel

Another book about a train that any toddler is sure to love lol! I just learned this book is a part of a series, so we might have to get all three books by the author!

Dasher: How a Brave Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever by Matt Tavares

This book really drives home the message that you can take your dreams into your own hands. And who doesn’t want to teach their children to dream during the holiday season?

Last Stop on the Reindeer Express by Maudie Powell-Tuck

This book has five star reviews on Amazon and sounds pretty dreamy! There are physical interactive features included in the book which Augustine, of course, will love!

What holiday books for toddlers should we add to our library? These are Augustine’s favorite non-holiday books!
