An LBD Unlike the Rest

A Little Black Dress Unlike Any Other - M Loves M @marmarCan you believe that New Years is almost two weeks away! Where has December gone?! I was just chatting with my best friend the other day and I was like I can’t wait to see you in a few weeks for Christmas, and she was like, not even! I’ll see you a week from Saturday (tomorrow!). Ah! That snuck up on me a little faster than I would have liked! But I can’t wait. Friends, family, good food, maybe a little wine, and lots of celebrations are keeping me going!

I have absolutely no idea what Matthew and I are doing for New Year’s Eve. With Augustine, we probably won’t be having a crazy night (not that we ever did before him). I remember the year before we were pregnant Matthew and I were like ok, let’s plan a night in, we’ll have pasta and wine, and go to bed early & ready to kick butt in 2015! Well, I had 2 glasses of wine and woke up with a headache. So much for that!

But this year, I think we’ll probably do something low key. Maybe an early dinner out the 3 of us, or a date night at home with pizza and ONE glass of wine! Either way, I’m going to dress up. I can be casual any old night, but NYE calls for something festive. Who’s with me?!

I know you don’t usually see me in all black, but there were a few things I LOVED about this dress as soon as I saw it! It’s an LBD unlike the rest because of 2 things:

1. The Brocade. Do you remember this skirt that I had way back in the day? It reminds me of that item a lot. {Don’t judge the photos by the way. But read the copy. Oh the early days!} I love brocade material, though. It’s so beautiful and feminine and has a timeless, classic feel.

2. The Bow. You all know I’m a sucker for girly details, like bows. I just love it!

To make this look a little more feminine, I paired the dress with these pink pumps {also tying in the bow detail}. The heels are a little higher than I’ve been used to these days but I think they’re perfect for a special event. Also, size up if you can. I’m usually an 8/8.5, got an 8, but wish I got an 8.5.

Also I’m sure some of you noticed that my hair is DARK! I went to the Belle Isle Aveda Salon in Irvine and got a little trim and did a semi-permanent color. I think I heard her say it was a mix of #4 and #5. I love that it’s not too warm and not too ashy. {Aveda products are some of my faves too- I’ve always used this color conditioner to keep my highlights looking good! They have one for blondes too! Highly recommend if you color your hair!}

It’s definitely a little bit of a change going dark but I think it’s nice for the holidays. I also mentioned on Instagram that whenever I go light to dark I feel like Ursula when she steals Ariel’s voice. Even though she wasn’t Ariel, she kind of looks like her, but with darker hair. So that’s how I always feel when I make this kind of a change. Do any of you know what I mean??

I hope you all have the best Friday and a lovely weekend ahead! I’m so excited to get our packages wrapped, hopefully go to a Candy Cane lane with hot chocolate {or chocolate milkshakes depending on the weather}, and watch some Christmas movies! What are you up to?
